Mole In The Flower

This is a digital painting I did to try to replicate a gold broach or trinket. It’s based on a real photo of a mole in an actual tulip in the spring dew. I am a lover of enamel small decorative paintings especially traditionally of animals so I wanted to challenge myself in that style. Drawing or painting metallic is all about light and dark and strict contrast to show the reflective surface. Only when you apply the light highlights does it really come together as something shiny. Of course I didn’t want it to look like yellow chrome, I wanted a more aged, heirloom pendant gold look.
